Liverpool are considering rivalling Real Madrid and Barcelona for the signature of Valencia forward Ferran Torres, according to a report from the Daily Mirror.

The Mirror reports that the Reds have had Torres on their radar since he emerged as a 17-year-old. However, they have taken their interest up a notch this term.

According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool have watched the 20-year-old on several occasions and are considering a move.

It is noted that his contract expires in 2021. Valencia are hoping to tie him down for longer. But their cause will surely not be helped by the amount of interest in him.

Torres has predominantly played on the right for Los Che in a 4-4-2 formation this season. But he is capable of playing anywhere in the forward line, including as a central striker.

He has scored six goals and provided six assists across La Liga and the Champions League this term.

TBR View – Torres interest shows smart thinking from Klopp

Liverpool should wrap up the Premier League title with ease if the current season resumes. With their Champions League win last term, there is no question that Jurgen Klopp’s era will be remembered as one of the greatest in the club’s incredible history.

But it looks to be extremely smart to keep one eye on the future. Liverpool hardly have an ageing squad – of course, they have so many exciting young players within their ranks – but 24-year-old Divock Origi is the youngest attacker to start a league game for the Reds this season.

Torres looks to have a frightening amount of potential. So Liverpool winning the race for his signature would be a fantastic statement, and a brilliant way for the club to boost their chances of staying at the top far beyond this season.
