Liverpool are refusing to sanction Bobby Duncan’s exit. According to The Liverpool Echo, the Reds have turned down a loan-to-buy proposal from Fiorentina for Duncan.
Fiorentina were hoping to sign Duncan on a season-long loan deal with the option of a £1.6m permanent transfer next summer. But Liverpool chief Alex Inglethorpe (the academy director) has immediately rebuffed this offer as Duncan is not for sale.
This comes shortly after Liverpool refused to loan the 18-year-old striker to Danish top-flight club FC Nordsjaelland. Duncan was left out of Liverpool’s U23 game on Monday night but appears to be no closer to leaving on loan.

The teenage forward scored 32 times for the academy last season after moving from Manchester City. This has not gone unnoticed and it is no surprise to see the loan race is on. But Liverpool will not entertain Fiorentina’s offer which could lead to his permanent sale in summer 2020.
TBR’s view
Liverpool should allow Duncan to leave on loan as this could be the making of his career. The England youth striker has clearly shown he is good enough to thrive in the academy but getting senior minutes will aid his cause for a future Liverpool spot.
But Inglethorpe must maintain his stance that Duncan is not for sale. Liverpool have high hopes for Duncan and Rhian Brewster so both need to remain on the books at Anfield.
