Liverpool have reportedly received enquiries off unnamed clubs for defender Nathaniel Clyne.

According to Sky Sports, clubs have made contact with enquiries for the 28-year-old right-back.

It is understood there is a “good chance” he could exit Anfield next month depending on the progress of his return from injury.

The report details that the Englishman was available for transfer in the summer before his injury setback.

Clyne suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury against Borussia Dortmund in pre-season and is expected to return to training in January.

The £70,000-a-week (Spotrac) star spent the second half of last season out on loan at Bournemouth and clearly isn’t in the plans of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

His contract with the Merseyside club expires at the end of the season and a January exit looks on the cards.

TBR’s View:

Clyne was a decent Liverpool player when he first joined back in 2015 from Southampton, but unfortunately he’s one of the players that has been unable to keep up with the meteoric rise in recent years.

The full-back has been unfortunate with injuries, but in any case he would have lost his position to academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool talent Alexander-Arnold is now regarded as one of the best right-backs in the world and looks like he could nail down the position for the next decade.

Clyne could be an attractive option for another Premier League club and Liverpool should be pleased to get him off the wage bill.
