Report: Liverpool plan to double ‘sensational’ World Cup target’s salary, Klopp really wants him

Liverpool have found themselves in a position where they’ll likely have to overhaul their midfield over the coming months.

Three Reds midfielders – Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner – are out of contract in summer.

Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara are 31 and 32 years old respectively.

And while Liverpool appear to be frontrunners for Jude Bellingham, he wouldn’t join until the summer.

The Reds could do with midfield reinforcements in January. And according to reports, they’re closing in on another World Cup ace.

Footmercato recently claimed that Sofyan Amrabat’s representatives have already held talks with Jurgen Klopp over a potential Anfield switch.

Apparently, Liverpool have scheduled more talks with the Fiorentina and Morocco star for when the World Cup concludes.

Now, Tuttosport has reported that Liverpool are plotting to more than double Amrabat’s wages.

The Italian outlet claims the Reds have proposed a ‘staggering’ salary of £4million a year, or around £67,000-a-week.

As per Salarysport, the 26-year-old is currently on £30,000-a-week at Fiorentina.

And as well as the much improved wages on offer, the prospect of playing in the Champions League could also sway Amrabat.

Could Liverpool land ‘best holding midfielder of the World Cup’ for less than £13m?

The ‘outstanding‘ Amrabat is currently enjoying an outstanding World Cup campaign as the heartbeat of Morocco’s midfield.

The Fiorentina dynamo helped Morocco reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup via a superb penalty win over Spain.

As a key member of one of the World Cup’s success stories, Amrabat is now well and truly in the shop window.

Fabrizio Romano recently spoke to the 26-year-old’s agent, Mohammed Sinouh, about his client.

“Of course, I get a lot of phone calls for Sofyan,” he told Romano, who shared his comments on Twitter.

“The whole world has seen he’s the best holding midfielder of the World Cup.

“Sofyan is top professional, he’s focused on World Cup with Morocco.”

Liverpool would be getting themselves a great, first team-ready talent, and he wouldn’t break the bank either.

In terms of a potential price tag, reports linking him to Tottenham earlier this year suggested a fee of around £12.5million.

With Liverpool desperately needing midfield reinforcements, Amrabat arriving in January would be a much-needed boost.
