Liverpool plan to make a big play to sign Marco Asensio on a free transfer next year, with the Sunday Mirror (4/12; page 83) reporting that Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of the Real Madrid forward.

The Reds are expected to be amongst the clubs keen on holding talks to sign the 26-year-old in the new year. His contract at the Bernabeu expires at the end of the campaign.

The Sunday Mirror reports that Asensio’s agent is planning to hold talks with the likes of Juventus and Bayern Munich. But there is also interest from Liverpool.

Liverpool plan Asensio bid

In fact, the Sunday Mirror claims that Jurgen Klopp is a massive fan of the Spain international. And with that, Liverpool are planning to make a big push to bring him to Anfield next summer.

Signing Asensio would be a huge coup for the Reds. He has never really been the main man with Los Blancos. However, his record at the Bernabeu is actually an impressive one.

He has 79 goal involvements in 250 games for Real. And he is someone who can play in a variety of roles across the forward line, including up front.

They are certainly not the only side keen on bringing Asensio to the Premier League. Reports from Calciomercatoweb this week claimed that Arsenal are desperate to sign Asensio.

It is certainly an opportunity that seems too good to ignore. Asensio is an ‘world-class‘ talent. And he could be just about to head into the peak years of his career.

Clearly, Klopp believes that there is a lot more to come from Asensio in the coming years. And he hopes that he will be Anfield-bound when his deal at Real expires.
