Turkish outlet Hurriyet have claimed that Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has rejected offers from the United Kingdom and a return to Germany in order to continue his loan with Besiktas.
The 25-year-old will be remembered by Liverpool fans for his two horrendous mistakes in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, which saw Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale score to win 3-1.
Immediately after playing the Champions League final, Liverpool opted to sign Brazil star Alisson and ship Karius out on loan to Turkish side Besiktas on a two-year loan. He has somewhat struggled, keeping just six clean sheets.
Despite being the subject of interest from the UK and Germany this summer, Karius has opted to remain with Besiktas: “I owe the Beşiktaş fans. I never think of going anywhere. I’m preparing for the championship.”
Karius has failed to prove himself even in the Turkish league with one of the title challengers. Twinning that with his Champions League final nightmare, it is unlikely he will play for Liverpool again.
He remains on the books at Anfield but is still with Besiktas on loan for another season. The chances are that Karius will remain at Besiktas until next summer before leaving Liverpool permanently in 12 months’ time.
