Report: Liverpool open talks for player Mane says is 'very, very fast'

Liverpool have held talks with Watford over the availability of Ismaila Sarr, according to 90 Min.

The Reds have been long-term admirers of the winger who shone in the Championship and could now make a move.

It has previously been claimed that he is valued at £45 million by Watford. Sarr has three years to run on his contract at Vicarage Road.

The 23-year-old arrived from Rennes in 2019. He has made 70 appearances for the Hornets, scoring 19 goals and registering 16 assists.

He helped Watford claim promotion last season, although the club could still end up losing their prized asset.

Sharp

Sarr has earned himself some high profile praise. His international teammate is Sadio Mane and he’s raved about him previously.

Sarr has 34 caps for his country, scoring six goals and when he signed for Watford, Mane spoke about his compatriot – highlighting his main threat.

The Liverpool forward told The Athletic: “He’s absolutely rapid. I think defenders will struggle. He’s very, very fast. I’m a bit jealous that I won’t see him at Liverpool.

“I’m really happy for him though. I think he will be great for Watford.”

Ideal

If Liverpool could land Sarr he would represent a decent addition to their ranks.

The Reds boss Jurgen Klopp would dearly love to add some more firepower to his team.

The likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi didn’t really get a look in last season and shaking up the front three wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah won’t be replaced just yet, but having options in reserve would help them fire on all fronts.

Sarr earns £71,000-a-week at Watford and that represents a modest sum as far as Liverpool are concerned.

The transfer fee might prove tricky to negotiate but looking at the whole package, Sarr could be ideal for Liverpool.
