Report: Liverpool now want to sign 'really special' World Cup midfielder who was his country's hero yesterday

Liverpool have entered the race to sign World Cup star Mohammed Kudus, according to Telegraff journalist Mike Verwij. The youngster scored twice yesterday as Ghana defeated South Korea 3-2 to breathe life into their campaign.

The Reds will go in search of some new players. After a poor start to the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, the Reds may look to do some business in January when the window opens.

Kudus will be a name on every top club’s lips ahead of the January transfer window. He’s currently contracted to Ajax where he’s scored 10 goals in 21 appearances for the Eredivisie outfit.

The 22-year-old has been with the Dutch giants since 2020. He checked in from Nordsjaelland and has become a hit with the faithful in Amsterdam.

Now, Kudus has seen his stock rise. This season he’s really come of age and he’s now scoring goals on the grandest stage of them all at the World Cup.

The beauty of the Ghanaian is that he can play in a host of positions. He can play at the tip of a diamond as a number 10, or through the middle as an out-and-out striker.

Kudus is wanted by a number of clubs. Everton have been linked the heaviest and they won’t fancy losing out on a mega deal to fierce rivals Liverpool.

Kudus hasn’t finished at this World Cup just yet. His country could now qualify and they face a one-game shootout with their old rivals Uruguay.

He does look like the sort of player that will complement the Liverpool squad nicely. This season the group has looked tired and an injection of energy and youthful exuberance wouldn’t go amiss.

Kudus is under contract until 2025. As a result, following a strong World Cup, Liverpool might have to get the chequebook out to land the World Cup star.
