Liverpool are now among the host of clubs who want to sign Napoli defensive midfielder Stanislav Lobotka.

It is no secret that the Reds’ midfield is in need of a revamp and a host of injuries in that area of the pitch have not helped this season.

Liverpool got to see Lobotka up close earlier this season when they lost 4-1 in Naples on the opening night of their Champions League campaign.

Now, Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web claim that the Reds are ready to battle for his signature in the transfer market.

Liverpool want Lobotka

They say that Liverpool face competition from domestic rivals Chelsea and Manchester United for the 27-year-old’s signature.

But it also looks as if he is happy in Naples and that talks are progressing well over a new contract which would run until 2028.

There would also be an option to extend it until 2029, with Lobotka apparently set to boost his wages by committing his future.

Jude Bellingham is the main target for Liverpool but the competition from across Europe for the Borussia Dortmund man will be so intense.

And it could be argued that Liverpool need more than one new face, with the likes of James Milner not getting any younger and Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain consistently suffering with injuries.

Lobotka is more of an anchorman, who is playing a key role as Napoli establish themselves as one of the most exciting sides in European football right now.
