Liverpool have now become the team most likely to sign Renato Sanches this summer with Barcelona’s financial problems making a move to the Nou Camp almost impossible, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.

Sanches has reestablished himself as one of the most exciting talents in Europe after a superb 12 months.

He was outstanding as Lille won the Ligue 1 title. And he followed that by enjoying a superb Euro 2020 campaign with Portugal.

Several clubs have sat up and taken notice. Barca had hoped to bring the 23-year-old in, particularly after missing out on Georginio Wijnaldum.

However, Mundo Deportivo reports that their financial situation makes a move to Catalonia almost impossible for Sanches.

And with that, Liverpool are now the side most likely to sign the midfielder.

Lille value Sanches at £34 million. However, Mundo Deportivo suggests that the Reds would like to pay less than that.

Renato Sanches would be an outstanding signing for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has left the door open for further signings before the deadline passes. But it does seem that the Reds are content with the squad they have.

So fans may be reluctant to get carried away with links with Sanches until a deal seemingly moves a lot closer.

But some will be delighted with the claims from Mundo Deportivo. If he arrived on Merseyside this summer, he could potentially be an outstanding signing.

He looks to have bounced back after some difficult spells earlier in his career. And remarkably, he seems to be back on the same trajectory as when he initially burst onto the scene.

Liverpool may be prepared to do little else in the market. But surely, they will take Sanches into consideration before the window shuts.
