Liverpool could be set to replace Dejan Lovren by signing Real Betis defender, Aissa Mandi, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The 28-year-old is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract with the La Liga club this summer. And with no signs of a new deal being agreed, the Reds are ready to swoop for the Algerian star.

The Mail claims that Jurgen Klopp wants to bring Mandi in as a replacement for the outgoing Dejan Lovren. The Croatian defender is set to leave Anfield for Zenit St Petersburg, as per The Times.

Liverpool are hoping to land Mandi for as little as £10m, which would, essentially, represent a like for like deal in terms of replacing Lovren.

Mandi has been a regular for Betis for the last few seasons and is a big player for Algeria, too. He has 55 caps for his country and could well be open to joining international teammates like Riyad Mahrez in the Premier League.

You have to hand it to Liverpool at times. Yes, they’ve spent big on a few players but they can’t half sniff out a bargain when they come along.

Mandi has been excellent for Betis and at 28, is coming into his prime years. The defender would be perfect for Jurgen Klopp, especially given his versatility across the back.

Lovren has been a good servant for Liverpool but Mandi looks to be a more than capable replacement. And at £10m, it looks like being an absolute steal for the Reds.
