According to a report from ESPN, Liverpool could make a last-ditch move to sign USA international defender, Aaron Long.
Long is currently with New York Red Bulls but has been tipped for a move to England after ascending to become captain of his country.

Now 28, the time is now really for Long, and Liverpool could give him the perfect chance to show his stuff in England. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted his club could look for a late January deal, with Joel Matip the latest defender to get injured.
Liverpool have, so far, managed pretty well without both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. However, there is a need for a new central defender and Long could well be a short-term fix.

Long has won 18 caps for the USA and has over 100 appearances to his name in the MLS (Transfermarkt). Predominantly a central defender, Long has also filled in to the right and left in a back three when required.
TBR View: Long might be ideal, Liverpool need someone in there
Jurgen Klopp spoke earlier today about Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams. And although they’ve both done ok when called upon, everyone can see the Reds need another body through the door.
Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have filled in of late but Klopp needs Henderson’s energy in midfield. Long, then, could prove a viable option.
He won’t break the bank, he’ll be keen to prove himself at the very top level, and he’ll provide a stop gap that Liverpool so desperately need.
