Herbie Kane will be sent on loan to the Championship this summer with as many as five clubs in the race to sign him, according to a report by Goal.
Championship clubs are queuing up to sign Kane on loan after an impressive season in League One. The 20-year-old starred at Doncaster Rovers, chalking up a tally of seven goals and 10 assists in just under 50 games.
Kane helped to guide Doncaster to the League One play-offs, where they were narrowly beaten by Charlton Athletic in the semi-finals. Now he is set for another step up as he aims to test his ability in the Championship.
Liverpool have often sent their youngsters to the Championship to test their readiness and Harry Wilson could be the latest to break into the first-team squad after a season in the second tier (with Derby County).
Where is best for Herbie Kane?
Five clubs are chasing Kane. And the most sensible choice should be Hull City for two reasons. Firstly, this is the club where Wilson first made his name with a half-season loan spell.
But more importantly, Grant McCann has been appointed as the new Hull manager. McCann was in charge of Doncaster last season so he knows all about Kane and trusts the young midfielder.
Aside from Hull, Kane could put his Doncaster disappointment behind him and move to newly-promoted Charlton Athletic. The Addicks would probably be able to offer him plenty of minutes and manager Lee Bowyer could impart some knowledge after spending years in the Premier League as a central midfielder.
Kane could also consider a move to Brentford. The England youth international would join a highly ambitious and young side in West London and the Bees play an exciting brand of football.
Luton Town are the fourth club chasing Kane and, like Charlton, could offer him playing time. Millwall are the fifth club but Liverpool might ignore this option due to stylistic reasons.
