Report: Liverpool make move to sign 'relentless' World Cup midfielder who left Arsenal three years ago
Jurgen Klopp’s men will seemingly be in the market for midfield reinforcements over the next two transfer windows. The Reds have looked slightly light in the position this season, with both Jordan Henderson and Thiago picking up injuries at different points.
Liverpool’s interest in Jude Bellingham has been well-documented but it seems that Klopp could have his eye on another emerging talent that has starred in Qatar.
Musah was one of the standout performers for the USMNT at the World Cup. The Valencia star put in some impressive displays from midfield, alongside Weston McKennie and Tyler Adams.
Of course, Gregg Berhalter’s side were knocked out of the tournament on Saturday after a 3-1 defeat to Holland. But Musah’s ‘relentless’ displays have certainly not gone unnoticed.
Liverpool move to sign Musah
90 Min reports that Arsenal have been tracking Musah ever since he left their academy set-up back in 2019.
But it’s Liverpool and Chelsea that have made the first moves to sign him, with both clubs making contact with his representatives over a possible switch.
Valencia have opened fresh contract talks with the 20-year-old, with his current deal set to run until 2026 with a release clause worth around £86 million.
Musah has burst onto the scene this season for Valencia and after a brilliant World Cup, the Spanish outfit will probably be looking for a lot more than the £34 million his agent previously suggested.
The youngster displayed he has all the qualities to play at the very top level and was a standout performer for the USMNT in Qatar.
He will probably be one of many options Liverpool are looking at right now, with Bellingham seemingly being their top target. But with many huge clubs in the race to sign the England star, Klopp’s men will have to assess other targets.
At just 20, Musah looks to have an incredibly bright future ahead of him and Arsenal will probably be regretting allowing him to leave three years ago.
