Report: Liverpool make contact over striker Luis Suarez says is at a 'very high level'
Liverpool have reportedly enquired about Kylian Mbappe, according to Marca.
The Reds are apparently eyeing the 22-year-old striker, who has shone for Paris Saint-Germain and France.
Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco in 2018 for a £130million fee, a world-record sum for a teenager.
He has registered 132 goals and 61 assists from just 171 appearances for the French capital club.
However, Mbappe’s contract at the Parc des Princes expires next summer.
Marca claims that the World Cup winner hasn’t shown any appetite to pen a new deal at PSG.
And while the Parisians have said they will “never sell” Mbappe and won’t let him leave on a free transfer, he holds all the cards.
Liverpool struggled up front last term
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s world-class frontline was far from its best last season.
Mohamed Salah was fairly consistent throughout but Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino struggled at times.
Diogo Jota did well but he sadly spent time on the sidelines due to injury.
And Liverpool’s fringe forwards haven’t exactly shown they have what it takes to become regular starters.
“Very high level”
Liverpool icon Luis Suarez praised Mbappe on Twitch – via Goal.com – in March this year
The Uruguay star was asked who he thought would become the next top striker in world football.
Although Suarez said he believed the “spectacular” Erling Haaland would be the best, he said Mbappe is “at a very high level”.
