Liverpool are reportedly working on handing contract extensions to Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

According to the Athletic, the club are keen to hand the Anfield trio ‘lucrative’ extensions on their current deals.

All three players have their contracts expiring in 2023, along with the likes of Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson.

As per the report, Alisson Becker is close to signing a new five-year contract with Liverpool. Whilst fellow Brazilian Fabinho is also nearing signing fresh terms with the Merseyside club.

Yet tying down Mane, Salah and Van Dijk will be a massive coup for Liverpool. The trio were invaluable for the Reds in both their 2018 UEFA Champions League triumph and Premier League title-winning season.

Indeed, the three Liverpool players are regarded as world-class names in football.

As some of the club’s highest-paid players as per Spotrac, signing Mane, Salah and Van Dijk down to new deals will be a big financial undertaking for the Reds.

However, it could be a piece of business that works in Liverpool’s favour in a big way.

All three players are reaching the primes of their career. And having their qualities at the height of their powers will be a huge bonus for the Merseyside club heading into the upcoming years.

Indeed, with Jordan Henderson’s future in doubt as per the Athletic, it would not be a surprise to see either one of these three players inherit the captain’s armband should the England international leave Anfield.
