Liverpool are apparently in pole position to land Exeter City starlet Ben Chrisene.
As reported by The Sun, the Reds have leapfrogged Chelsea in the race for the 15-year-old, who became the club’s youngest ever player earlier this season.
Chrisene, 15, made his debut against Coventry City in the Carabao Cup in August.
The talented midfielder – an England U15 international – has also caught the attention of Southampton and Bayern Munich.
Chrisene received an invitation from Chelsea to their training ground after his cup appearance, and it is thought Exeter are willing to cooperate as long as they secure a ‘decent’ fee.
The Blues have done business with Exeter before of course having signed Ethan Ampadu in 2017.
Despite that, it is Liverpool who are now supposedly the most likely to land him.
TBR’s view – another future Anfield gem?
Liverpool already have a youth academy brimming with exciting talent and Chrisene would be another top prospect for the future.
His current manager Matt Taylor believes he’s good enough to play at the top level (via BBC Sport).
Clearly there is something about Chrisene and Exeter are developing a bit of a habit of producing players to have gone on to play at a higher level, such as Ampadu, Swansea City’s Matt Grimes and Ollie Watkins of Brentford.
