Liverpool are reportedly in the hunt to sign Sevilla winger, Lucas Ocampos, with La Razon claiming the Reds are ‘willing’ to make a bid for the Argentine.

Ocampos has been in flying form this moving to Seville. He has nailed down a regular slot in the starting XI, scoring 24 goals in just 75 appearances for the La Liga giants.

He was particularly impressive in the 19/20 campaign, where he was voted the best signing of the season in a poll by Marca. The winger beating the likes of Frenkie De Jong to the award.

And now La Razon claims Liverpool may be willing to take a punt on Ocampos. Although it remains to be seen, per the report, if the Reds would pay the reported £56m release clause in his current contract.

Jurgen Klopp may well look to strengthen his attacking options this summer. The pressure on the likes of Salah, Mane, and Firmino has been big this season, while Diogo Jota picked up an injury before Christmas and has been unable to return as yet.

TBR View: Ocampos a fine player who could add quality and depth

Liverpool do need to improve the squad to ensure they don’t get stuck in a rut, especially after coming up short this season.

Ocampos has the quality to contribute. He’d fit in Liverpool’s system too, but surely only as a back up to one of Salah or Mane.

And there lies the problem for the Reds. Any player in those positions knows they’ll play second fiddle for now. And at £56m, it’s an expensive transfer to simply sit on the bench.
