A player reportedly sought after by Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has previously been described as having “everything needed to succeed in professional football” and a “wunderkind”.
According to Italian outlet Passione Inter, Liverpool look set to lose Dejan Lovren at the end of the season, so the Anfield side is thought to be on the lookout for possible centre-back replacements.
One player being linked with the Reds by the outlet is Dayot Upamecano, who has been thoroughly immense for RB Leipzig for the past few years and has already clocked up 104 senior appearances despite being just 21.

One of the most highly rated young defenders in world football, Upamecano is believed to be sought after by numerous elite clubs including Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, according to The Telegraph.
Former Celtic defender Marvin Compper, who played alongside Upamecano at Leipzig, previously told the official Bundesliga website: “Dayot has everything needed to succeed in professional football.”
Meanwhile, Ralf Rangnick called Upamecano a “wunderkind” when he joined in January 2017, stating that “at his age, with his potential and playing style, he fits perfectly into our club and our philosophy.”

Aside from the plaudits sent Upamecano’s way, the France Under-21 defender’s displays have often spoken for themselves, in particular his shutout of Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski in the goalless draw between the two sides last month.
A big, strong centre-back with explosive pace and a superb reading of the game, Upamecano would be a both great defensive partner for Virgil van Dijk and also a worthy protégé able to learn from the very best.
In addition, with his contract expiring at the end of the 2020-21 season, The Telegraph reports that his release clause can now be triggered for £50million – a relatively inexpensive fee when you consider his talent, attitude, experience and potential for further development.
