Liverpool are interested in signing Coretin Tolisso this summer with Bayern Munich hoping to agree a new contract with the midfielder, according to a report from Calciomercato.

Tolisso appeared destined to leave the Bavarian giants at the end of this campaign. He had had a poor time with Bayern following his move from Lyon.

His contract expires this summer. And he has been linked with a switch to the Premier League. Reports claimed that Tottenham were keen. And his asking price could be less than £10 million.

However, Tolisso’s Bayern career has enjoyed something of a resurgence of late. He has already matched the number of Bundesliga starts this season that he made in both of the previous two campaigns.

And he has scored two in his last four. With that, Bayern are keen to keep Tolisso beyond this season.

Calciomercato reports that Bayern Munich plan to offer Tolisso a new contract. However, the report adds that Liverpool are very keen on the Frenchman.

Tolisso has been much better this season. However, Liverpool pursuing the midfielder in the summer would not be the most exciting move from Jurgen Klopp’s men.

The Reds have a fantastic group of midfield players. So it is going to take a hugely impressive signing to take their ranks to that next level.

Tolisso has made 21 league starts since the beginning of the 2019/20 season. That is partially down to indifferent form, and partially down to a number of injuries.

He has certainly not been able to live up to the £35 million fee Bayern parted with to bring him to the Allianz Arena.

Obviously, much of the risk would be eliminated if he moved to Anfield on a free transfer. But plenty of Liverpool fans may still hope that the club have something else up their sleeve this summer.
