Eurosport have claimed that Liverpool have joined Aston Villa in the race to sign Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge this summer, with the Norwegian expected to depart with the Blades looking more than likely to suffer relegation.
Berge, 23, was signed by Sheffield United in January 2020 after impressing in more than 100 appearances for Belgian side Genk. Having already earned 24 caps for Norway, the £22million (Eurosport) Blades recruit has enormous potential.
The midfielder has been injured for much of the season after undergoing hamstring surgery but in the 30 appearances he has clocked up for the Blades – he has certainly earned plenty of plaudits. But with the Blades going down, Liverpool are keen.
The report claims Liverpool have joined Villa in the race for Berge – while Jeunes Footeux state that both Tottenham and Arsenal are interested in the midfielder. It is unclear how much Sheffield United will charge for Berge this summer.

TBR’s view – Berge would be a stunning signing for Liverpool
Liverpool pride themselves on boasting a proper, hard-working engine room in midfield. Perhaps not the glittering talents of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and other technically-gifted stars that Manchester City boast.
But more so midfielders with quality that also have enormous work rate. James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and now Curtis Jones – for example. With Wijnaldum leaving, signing Berge as his replacement makes sense.
