Report: Liverpool join Tottenham in list of growing admirers for Torino’s Andrea Belotti

Italian newspaper TuttoSport have claimed that Liverpool have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Torino captain Andrea Belotti this summer – with the player expected to leave the Serie A side this summer.

Belotti, 27, is expected to end a six-year stint at Torino in the summer with his contract due to enter its final 12 months. This summer, then, represents the final opportunity for Torino to request big money for his services.

But even then, it might be a slightly cut-price figure for the Italy international. Football Italia report that Belotti might only cost £30million, a bargain fee for a player that has scored 104 goals in 222 appearances for Torino.

The report claims that both Tottenham and Liverpool are keen, with Spurs linked with Belotti by the same outlet earlier this month. Manchester United and Lyon are also named as Belotti’s admirers continue to grow.

TBR’s view – Belotti would be a stunning Liverpool signing

It would also be an acceptance from Jurgen Klopp that perhaps they need to change their attacking style. The usage of a false nine in Roberto Firmino has not been as effective as in recent seasons – and Belotti would change that.

Though he has laid on seven assists for his side this season, Belotti is more of a powerhouse striker in the mould of a Harry Kane before the England skipper started dropping deep. At £30million, he is an absolute bargain.
