Everton now face competition from Liverpool in their bid to sign David Neres. According to The Sun, Liverpool have joined the £35m race for the Ajax winger.
Neres has been in top form for Ajax this season and this has not gone unnoticed. This report also adds that Arsenal and Chelsea are keen on the youngster.
But Everton have been heavily linked in recent weeks. Various media outlets, such as Brazilian website UOL last month, claim Everton want Neres this summer.
However, the Toffees will have to fend off competition from Merseyside rivals Liverpool if they want to win this race.
Neres has played a key role for Ajax this season, helping them to lift the domestic cup. Ajax also sit top of the Eredivisie (ahead of PSV on goal difference) with two games left.
And, of course, the Dutch giants are in the Champions League semi-final with a 1-0 advantage over Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the second leg in Amsterdam on Wednesday.
The Brazil international has been a regular in their team during all three campaigns. With 10 Eredivisie and Champions League goals this season, including strikes against Real Madrid and Juventus, Neres has caught the eye.
Ajax face a battle to keep their 22-year-old star. And Liverpool are now hoping to win the race for the ex-Sao Paulo winger, who has a bright future.
