Spanish newspaper Noticias de Gipuzkoa have claimed that Liverpool are now interested in signing Sweden’s Euro 2020 star Alexander Isak. Arsenal were being linked with the impressive attacker, who has been excellent for Real Sociedad over the last 12 months. Now, Liverpool want him.
Isak, 21, scored a whopping 17 goals in 34 La Liga games last season. His form has seen him become a starter for Sweden and he was excellent in Sweden’s Euro 2020 opener – a 0-0 draw against Spain. The Athletic claimed earlier this month that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Isak.
But they have now been joined by Liverpool. NDG say that the Reds are keen, who eye Isak as a long-term replacement for Roberto Firmino. However, any move to sign Isak is likely to cost an enormous figure – with Sociedad boasting a £60million release clause in his current deal.

Isak would be a brilliant Liverpool signing
The Swedish striker fits the bill for Liverpool. Michael Edwards is renowned for targeting young, up-and-coming players that already have massive experience. Isak is that mould of player. It saw Liverpool sign Ibrahima Konate from Leipzig – similar age, similar game time, similar resale value.
Isak would be a stunning signing. He would take Liverpool forward and while Liverpool would lose creativity in the final third, they would dramatically improve their goal threat. If the Reds have £60million to spend on a striker, they should look nowhere else other than Isak.
