Liverpool are being linked with defender Diego Carlos from Spanish top-flight club Sevilla.

According to El Gol Digital, there are a host of elite clubs that admire the 28-year-old La Liga star.

The report states that Sevilla have eyes on Tottenham’s Davinson Sanchez as a target this summer, but he’d only be signed as a replacement for Carlos if he exits.

It is started that the Sevilla centre-back is in discussions about a potential exit at the end of the season.

Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Real Madrid are the five clubs being linked in the report, who are incidentally five of eight clubs still in this season’s Champions League competition.

Carlos, who joined Sevilla from Nantes back in 2019, has been a major success during his time in La Liga.

The Brazilian centre-half is quick, aggressive and a ball-playing defender.

TBR’s View:

Even if Liverpool start next season with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all back from respective injuries, they need to make sure there is another top-class option in defence for them.

The Merseyside giants have put up a miserable defence of their league crown this season, admittedly injuries have crushed them, but they don’t want to take big steps backwards after starting to really put themselves up there again as one of Europe’s top teams.

Carlos ticks a lot of boxes given his experience and the fact he’s at a prime age, so beating others to his signature would be brilliant.
