Report: Liverpool interested in 20-year-old gem after Manchester City let him go
According to Bernabeu Digital, Liverpool are interested in signing Adrián Bernabé after his departure from Manchester City.
What’s the story?
Well, the 20-year-old left the Etihad Stadium for Parma over the summer, after rising through the ranks in Manchester.
Bernabé managed to make five first-team appearances under Pep Guardiola, which is very impressive given the talent Manchester City have.
The Spaniard is yet to make an appearance for Parma, although a number of clubs are circling around him.
Bernabeu Digital believe Real Madrid are keen to secure his signature, while Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also competing with Liverpool.
The Spanish news outlet describe the wonderkid as one of the ‘great jewels’ currently playing in Italy.
Bernabeu Digital add that Real Madrid will be there to scout Bernabé on his debut for Parma, but there is no mention of Liverpool.
Liverpool could make Manchester City look silly
The Reds have already proven they have an eye for a prospect, having lured Harvey Elliott to Anfield where he is already a first-team member.
Liverpool have also hoovered up more wonderkids when signing Bobby Clark from Newcastle and Kaide Gordon from Derby.
In terms of their own youngsters, Liverpool have also developed Trent Alexander-Arnold into one of Europe’s best, while Curtis Jones has become a valued first-team member too.
In that respect, Liverpool clearly see a talent in Bernabé, and could make the Citizens look very silly if they sign him and he becomes a huge success.
Of course, Guardiola won’t mind too much, as he’ll probably go out and spend another £100m on a player in Bernabé’s position.
Regardless of that, Manchester City’s trash could soon become Liverpool’s treasure if Klopp wins this transfer baffle.
