Liverpool are being linked with Merih Demiral, who is a highly-rated defender that plays for Serie A Italian giants Juventus.
According to Calciomeracto, interest exists from the Reds in the 23-year-old after January speculation.
The report explains that Leicester City and AC Milan are now potential suitors for the centre-back.
It is understood that Juventus could grant his exit if the right offer arrives, and he’s valued at €40million (£34.5million) right now.
Demiral, who has 19 international caps for Turkey, only joined Juventus back in 2019.
He’s played 23 games across all competitions this season, injuries restricting his minutes, and he’s renowned as an extremely physical defender that is strong in the air.
It’s pretty obvious that Liverpool need to bring another centre-half into the squad in the summer window, albeit there is the option to turn Ozan Kabak’s loan deal into a permanent one for £18million (Independent).
They’ve experienced woeful injury luck in their backline this campaign, with Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip all missing for the majority of the season.
There is a perception that Liverpool supporters have moaned, but to have one area of the pitch completely obliterated is something to make anyone extremely frustrated.
Demiral would be a high-profile addition at Anfield if signed, so perhaps Liverpool should ramp up interest to bring in someone that looks like he’d be genuine competition to the likes of Van Dijk and Gomez when they are both fit.
