Report: Liverpool in talks to sign striker who scored more goals than Firmino and Mane combined last term
Liverpool have entered discussions to sign Donyell Malen, it has been claimed by Voetbal International on their official Youtube channel.
The Dutch source were talking transfers last night, and they suggested that Liverpool had made their move to land the rapid striker after Euro 2020.
Voetbal claims that Mino Raiola is now discussing a move with Liverpool for the forward, although Borussia Dortmund are also in the race.
“There are negotiations going on, and with that, it can also be counted on the negotiations that in this case, Mino Raiola is conducting with Dortmund or Liverpool, for example, for Malen,” Voetbal journalist Marco Timmer, as transcribed by Sports Witness.
That news looks exciting for Liverpool supporters, given Malen’s obvious ability.
The rapid front man stood out at Euro 2020, where he forced his way into Holland’s starting line-up.
His speed really caught the eye, as did his desire to get in behind defences.
Malen would be a very different type of striker to Roberto Firmino for Liverpool, given his ability to run in behind rather than drop short.
But that could be exactly what Jurgen Klopp’s side need right now.
Malen actually reached 27 goals in all competitions last term, with that total eclipsing what Firmino and Mane managed combined (25 goals).
His arrival, therefore, would really put their places in the team under pressure, and may well drive up the performance levels of all of Liverpool’s current front three.
