Report: Liverpool have held talks with Nicolas Pepe

According to RMC Sport, Lille president Gerard Lopez has confirmed that Liverpool have held talks with Nicolas Pepe. He also stated that the French club have already received two bids for the winger.

Pepe is currently in high demand. The 24-year-old winger was in electric form last season, as he racked up 22 goals and 11 assists in Ligue 1. Lille are unlikely to be able to hang onto the 11-cap Ivory Coast international.

Pepe now looks ready to step up to the next level, and a switch to Anfield would give him the chance to prove himself in Europe’s elite club competition, the Champions League. 

Jurgen Klopp will be keen to bolster his side this summer. Having come so close to winning the Premier League title last season, the German coach will believe that he is only a few additions away from building a side capable of winning the league title. 

Pepe could be the addition that gives the Reds the extra boost they need. Competition for places is already fierce in Klopp’s squad. However, that doesn’t mean that additional quality shouldn’t be brought into the fold. 

Pepe would give the Merseyside club greater strength in depth. This would make sure they’re well-placed to compete with the Manchester City over the course of the new campaign.
