German outlet Sport1 has claimed that Liverpool will be able to land potential transfer target Timo Werner for just £25 million during the summer.

It has previously been mentioned in Bild that Liverpool would need to pay in the region of £50 million to land the German goal machine.

That doesn’t seem to be the case; with the latest release clause likely to alert plenty of other interested parties towards his services.

Werner is on a mission in front of goal this season. The 23-year-old took his tally for the season to 27 on Saturday, scoring in a 5-0 thrashing of Schalke.

Klopp is an admirer of the RB Leipzig performer and is keen to bolster his attacking ranks with the stellar signing in the summer.

If this latest valuation is to be believed then Liverpool must move quickly. Signing a player with the goalscoring prowess of Werner for such a sum would represent a genuine steal by the Premier League club.

The Reds currently have Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah as a fearsome trio in their attack.

Adding Werner might represent a change in formation. Werner could spearhead the front line and the current three making up the men behind in a 4-2-3-1 system.

Competition

Liverpool didn’t really make a stellar addition last summer and it would be surprising if they didn’t chase some real quality at the end of this season.

Despite a dominant campaign, Klopp will want to stay ahead of the curve. Werner is only 23 and would represent a tremendous addition for Liverpool should they get a deal over the line.
