Liverpool reportedly failed with an offer for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze last month.
According to a report from France Football, the Reds tabled a bid of €35 million/£30 million for the Nigeria international but were rebuffed by the Spanish outfit, who are chasing a Europa League finish this season.
The report adds that Villarreal would expect suitors to bid nearer to the player’s release clause, which supposedly is €65 million/£55 million.

Chukwueze has made 26 appearances so far this season, scoring four goals and making four assists.
The 20-year-old is considered one of the most exciting young players in the Spanish top-flight, and he has also reportedly caught the eye of Chelsea.
France Football say that Liverpool’s bid was borne out of Liverpool’s lack of depth at right-wing, with Xherdan Shaqiri not in the plans of manager Jurgen Klopp.
TBR’s view – Chukwueze a potential diamond
At the moment, Chukwueze is still quite raw and his final ball isn’t so consistent.

But he has undeniable promise and his physical attributes make him a real danger.
Indeed earlier this season, Villarreal star and former Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno likened Chukwueze to current Anfield superstar Sadio Mane (Marca), which is a further suggestion of his potential.
With Liverpool’s high intensity system, he could fit in perfectly and perhaps become a long-term successor for Mane or Mo Salah.
He would certainly add strength in depth, but he will seemingly not come cheap.
