Liverpool are said to be maintaining their interest in Brighton midfielder, Yves Bissouma, but face a battle with both Monaco and Manchester United.

That is according to ESPN, who claim that Bissouma is still being tracked by the Reds, with officials at Old Trafford and Monaco also said to be keen on exploring a deal for the Brighton ace.

The report from ESPN follows up on interest reported last month, where TalkSport claimed both Liverpool and Arsenal were monitoring Bissouma ahead of January.

However, it appears it is indeed the Reds who seem keen on the Mali international, with Jurgen Klopp keeping close tabs on players who he feels can improve his already impressive Liverpool XI and squad.

Bissouma has over two years left on his deal and ESPN claim the Seagulls value him at around the £30m mark. Whether that will be enough to put off the big spenders in Europe, remains to be seen.

This has already started to gather pace, although you don’t imagine Liverpool splashing out £30m on a new player in January.

However, that doesn’t mean that Bissouma won’t eventually be on the move, especially if Brighton end up dropping out of the division.

The Mali star has clear quality and deserves to play Premier League football. Whether that is with Brighton, or higher up the food chain, is probably something we’ll find out in the coming six months.
