Liverpool are reportedly eyeing defender Max Clark from Dutch top-flight club Vitesse Arnhem.

According to the Mirror, Jurgen Klopp’s side have been “making checks” on the 23-year-old throughout this campaign following his impressive displays abroad.

It is understood that Vitesse are braced for offers for the English full-back in the upcoming January transfer window, with several Premier League teams eyeing him and his contract set to enter its final 18 months.

The report explains that Liverpool may want cover at left-back for Andy Robertson and Clark could fit the bill.

Clark previously came through the ranks at Hull City and also had senior experience with Cambridge United, before making the switch abroad to join Vitesse.

The left-back has made a name for himself in the Eredivise with the Dutch side and is an attack-minded defender now grabbing the attention of the Champions League holders.

Liverpool have shown in the past they don’t always need to sign the star names in the game to turn them into superstars, with Robertson the perfect example of that.

TBR’s View:

Liverpool have arguably the two best full-backs around, with Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold bossing it on either flank for the past couple of years.

Clark is an attack-minded left-back that looks like he could buy into the Klopp philosophy and it’s a pivotal role out wide in the German manager’s system.

He is a rapid wide player that looks a strong fit on paper and fans have no reason to question his judgement based on recent transfer dealings.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool make a move in January for the in demand defender, as they have already made a shrewd piece of business with the acquisition of Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg.
