Liverpool have entered talks with the representatives of Watford winger Ismaila Sarr, according to the Watford Observer.
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace are also thought to be keen on signing the flyer during the current window.
Liverpool are yet to make a formal bid to the Hornets but have asked about his availability.
Sarr only arrived at Vicarage Road last summer, costing a club record £25 million from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes (BBC).
He enjoyed a solid enough maiden campaign in the Premier League; scoring six goals and registering as many assists in 30 appearances.
Sarr might have caught Jurgen Klopp’s eye when the Hornets became the first team to beat Liverpool in the Premier League during 2019/20.
The 22-year-old scored twice and set up the other as the Reds were surprisingly swept aside.
One thing that could massively appeal to Sarr is the chance to link up with compatriot and international teammate Sadio Mane.
The speed demon still has a lot to learn but Klopp will clearly fancy the challenge of turning Sarr into a world-class operator.
Klopp plucked Mane from Southampton and some people were unsure of the impact he would make at Anfield.
Four years on and nobody is left questioning the German boss, with Mane one of the team’s most integral players.
TBR View – Sarr could prove shrewd addition and perfect for Klopp
With Liverpool’s first eleven relatively strong, Klopp simply needs to ensure he has better options from the bench.
Sarr would start as an impact sub almost for certain but at 22, he has plenty of time to force his way into the Liverpool team.
The youngster earns £25,000-a-week at Watford and would probably earn more at Anfield.
At the same time, he wouldn’t break the bank for Liverpool and he could provide the Reds with some real quality from the bench.
He is quick, unpredictable and extremely direct in possession of the ball. Those attributes could delight the Anfield faithful and get them right on the edge of their seats.
