Report: Liverpool could offer Naby Keita swap for AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli

Reports from Italy are suggesting that Liverpool could well look to strike a swap deal with AC Milan involving Naby Keita, in a move which would send Alessio Romagnoli the other way.

According to Milan Live, the Reds are already weighing up the option of bringing Romagnoli to Anfield as part of a deal to see Keita move away from the club.

The move could well make sense, given the same publication reported this week that Milan were eyeing Keita already.

Guinea international Keita has struggled to hit the heights many expected him to since arriving on Merseyside from RB Leipzig. Indeed, Jurgen Klopp is apparently struggling to find a place for him in his squad as things stand.

But news of a potential swap with Milan could be perfect. Romagnoli, who has yet to sign a new deal with the Milanese giants, is one of the best defenders in Italy.

Indeed, this was a deal that we proposed only this week as a potential option for Liverpool to investigate. Romagnoli is believed to be valued at around 40m euros by Milan.

In a strange twist of fate, this deal looks like it might be one that may well come to fruition.

And it makes perfect sense for Liverpool, too. Romagnoli is simply brilliant and on his day, one of the very best defenders in Europe. He’d be perfect next to Virgil van Dijk. So much so, you’d have to worry for opposition strikers even getting a sniff next season.

Keita, on the other hand, needs a move himself. And with a strange summer ahead of us all, this deal might make perfect financial sense for everyone involved.

Mino Raiola is the agent for Romagnoli, however, Liverpool should have little trouble convincing someone to come to Anfield at the moment.
