Report: Liverpool could now sign the 'next Erling Haaland' for less than £7m

Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on Molde and Ivory Coast forward Datro Fofana.

According to Ivorian outlet Fraternite Matin – via Sport Witness – the Reds are monitoring the 19-year-old.

Darwin Nunez is finding his feet at Liverpool, so it’s likely that he’ll lead the Reds line for years to come.

However, with Roberto Firmino’s Anfield future uncertain, Jurgen Klopp may well be looking for reinforcements.

Fraternite Matin has now claimed that Fofana is ‘in the sights’ of the Merseyside giants.

The teenager joined Molde from Abidjan City FC in February of last year.

And he has been sensational for the Norwegians.

Fofana has made 63 appearances for his club, registering 22 goals and 10 assists.

He has 15 goals and six assists in 27 games during the current campaign.

And this is why the Reds are ‘carefully observing the profile of the Ivorian striker’, said the report.

Apparently, ‘the other thing that drives’ Liverpool towards him is his price.

A fee of between €5-7m (£4.3-6.1m) could reportedly be enough for Molde to let him go.

There are multiple comparisons to Erling Haaland in the article as well.

The Manchester City star started his career at Molde.

He netted 20 goals in 50 appearances for them before joining RB Salzburg.

Can Liverpool land another bargain?

If true, this is some great scouting by Liverpool.

Fofana has clearly been a cut above for Molde, suggesting he’s got what it takes for a step up.

And his purported price tag is an absolute snip.

At his age and with such talent and potential, you’d like to think Liverpool could go on to make a profit on him if things don’t work out.

And if they do, then they’d have got themselves one of the bargains of the century.

Liverpool have form in that, having spent an initial £8million for Andrew Robertson.

Then you have the likes of Mohamed Salah, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson, none of which broke the bank.
