According to a report from Corriere Dello Sport, Man City are now looking to pip Liverpool to the signing of Napoli midfielder, Fabian Ruiz.
The Spanish midfield player has become an integral cog for the Serie A giants. Since moving to Naples from Real Betis, he has established himself as a key player for the Italian side.

However, such have been the levels of his performance, that the likes of Liverpool are reportedly interested in snapping up the 24-year-old.
But with no deal in the pipeline just yet, it appears that Premier League champions Man City are now also keen on landing Ruiz. Pep Guardiola is looking to beat Real Madrid to his signature. The La Liga giants also amongst the teams credited with being admirers of the midfielder.
The reports from Italy today claims Ruiz could cost triple the €3om Napoli paid for him in 2018. That fee, then, would break both Liverpool and City’s transfer records.
Man City and Liverpool face a fight to land Fabian Ruiz – TBR View
It’s nice to see two giants of the English game going head to head to land one of Europe’s top talents.
However, with Real Madrid also being mentioned, they face an uphill task. Ruiz will no doubt lap up any interest that comes his way from the Spanish capital.

Many Spanish players base their entire careers around getting to the very top and playing for either Real or Barcelona.
Therefore, if Madrid do firm up their interest, you would think Liverpool and City will lose out.
For the Reds, in particular, it looks like they could be moved to the bottom of the pile. Given City’s spending power in terms of wages and the lure of Pep Guardiola, they would surely lose out on Ruiz to their closest PL rivals.
