Sky Sports have claimed that Liverpool are considering a move to offer Pedro Chirivella a new contract after the midfielder shone against Everton in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday evening against Everton.
Chirivella, 22, is currently in the final months of his current contract at Anfield. Indeed, he is likely to leave the club for nothing in June, with the Spaniard failing to make a serious breakthrough into Liverpool’s first team since joining the academy in 2013.
Since he joined as a 16-year-old almost seven years ago, the Spain youth international has gone on to play just nine times for the Reds first team. He has been on loan in The Netherlands on two occasions, and in Spain.
Now, Chirivella was expected to leave Liverpool in the summer given his current contract situation. But it is believed Liverpool are re-thinking their decision not to extend his deal, after starring against Everton at the base of the midfield on Sunday.

TBR’s view – Chirivella deserves another 12 months
Especially with Fabinho currently injured and Jordan Henderson being used time after time. The latter needs a rest, while Fabinho remains sidelined and the Spanish midfielder’s performances in the Cups surely means he is worth a go in the league.
Comfortable and composed on the ball, Chirivella is also excellent at breaking play up and filling in at centre-back when needed. If he is to go on and become a member of the Reds’ first team, he has the best tutor in Fabinho.
He deserves at least another year to show why Jurgen Klopp should trust him.
