Liverpool are considered by the Daily Mail to be interested in securing the services of Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

The Champions of Europe have been searching for a solid understudy to Alisson all summer and now the Southampton outcast is apparently in their sights.

Forster played just once last season for the Saints. He was only actually in the matchday squad for the last five games of the campaign.

His only appearance came in a 3-0 defeat to West Ham in the penultimate game of 2018/19.

Offloading Forster would be ideal for the Saints. He is one of the club’s highest earners on £70,000-a-week, according to Spotrac.

Last season’s deputy goalkeeper at Liverpool was Simon Mignolet and he looks increasingly likely to leave Anfield this summer.

TBR Verdict

Signing Forster wouldn’t be a bad shout for Liverpool and it would certainly give them a reliable pair of hands from the bench.

The experienced performer has six England caps and although he hasn’t played for a while he would still be a decent signing.

Southampton wouldn’t demand a fortune for his services and the chance to get him off the wage bill would be welcomed.

Liverpool are yet to sign a player for their senior ranks yet, with some supporters growing concerned following some patchy pre-season form.

Forster wouldn’t really excite too many fans but he would definitely be a welcomed addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
