Report: Liverpool closing in on a deal for Wolves attacker Diogo Jota

Liverpool are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign attacker Diogo Jota from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

According to the Times, the Reds are at an “advanced stage” in discussions for the 23-year-old.

The report explains that a transfer is expected to be more than £35million and he will be arriving to bolster the frontline options at Anfield.

Jota has been a key part of Wolves’ side in recent years during their development from a Championship outfit to an established Premier League one, but it looks like he could be leaving Molineux imminently.

The Portugal international is an extremely versatile forward that usually plays on the wing, but can be deployed through the centre too and would provide excellent cover for Liverpool’s attackers.

He scored 16 goals across all competitions last season for Wolves and is proven at Premier League level, plus has so much potential to still fulfil.

TBR’s View:

After completing the signing on Friday of midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich, it looks Liverpool fans are receiving even more good news and it could end up being an extremely impressive transfer window for them.

The Jota rumours have come completely from left-field on Friday and it’s a deal that looks brilliant for the Merseyside club.

His transfer fee of over £35million could be a small gamble, but he’s got so much potential to be a brilliant signing for Liverpool and is going to massively strengthen the squad.
