Report: Liverpool 'circling' for striker, but club about to table £135k-a-week offer to keep him - Arsenal also keen
The Mirror claim Fiorentina are about to table a £135,000-a-week offer to keep Dusan Vlahovic – despite Liverpool and Arsenal ‘circling’.
Vlahovic, 21, is one of the most in-demand attacking talents in European football at the moment. The Serb scored 21 goals in Serie A last term.
This season, his blistering form has continued. Clocking up seven outings in all competitions – he already has six goals, four in six Serie A games.
His form, unsurprisingly, has caught admiring glances from England. Tottenham were linked last summer, with Harry Kane’s future in doubt.
However, he has stayed at La Viola. Now, they hope to keep him by offering him a five-year deal worth £35million. That equates to £135,000 a week.
But the report from the Mirror states that Liverpool and Arsenal are ‘circling’ and could consider a potential move to sign the powerful striker.
Arsenal or Liverpool: Which club needs Vlahovic more?
Divock Origi continues to be linked with the exit door, and it was quite a surprise that he did not go last summer. Roberto Firmino is on the bench.
But does Vlahovic, a big number nine, really suit Liverpool? Probably not. At Arsenal, the Gunners are in need of a striker – with two likely to go.
Both Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette see their contracts expire next summer. They will be sold in January, or go for nothing at the end of 21-22.
Arsenal need a striker more than Liverpool – but the Reds have more to offer, Champions League football, for example. An interesting battle.
