Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz has emerged as a target for Liverpool. According to Calciomercato, Ruiz is being chased by four clubs across Europe, including Champions League holders Liverpool.
Spanish pair Barcelona and Real Madrid will also compete for Ruiz while Bayern Munich are interested. Ruiz is currently at Napoli, where he has a contract until 2023, but he could be set for a major move.
The 23-year-old is a versatile midfield playmaker who can operate centrally or out wide. He is attack-minded and has chalked up a tally of seven goals and three assists in 42 Napoli games.
Prior to his move to Italy, Ruiz played for Real Betis, scoring three goals and providing seven assists in 59 games. He came through the ranks at Betis but had a loan spell with Elche, scoring once in 18 matches for his temporary club.
The Spain international has now earned three caps for his country. He has provided one assist and operated in a central midfield role in all three games. Liverpool will now hope to beat off competition from other European heavyweights to land Ruiz.
Ruiz is a technically gifted player who could slot seamlessly into this Liverpool side. Given his natural ability on the ball, Ruiz would probably play in a central midfield role ahead of Fabinho and alongside Gini Wijnaldum or Jordan Henderson.
He is still young and he has all the ingredients to become a top player for a European club. This might be worth the punt, although Napoli can demand a hefty fee for his signature.
