Calciomercato claim that Liverpool and West Ham are going to compete for the signature of Aaron Ramsey during the summer transfer window.

The Wales midfielder signed for Juventus in 2019 to end a long-standing association with Premier League club Arsenal.

He has made 61 appearances for the team in total, including 26 in all competitions during 2020/21.

Ramsey is under contract in Turin until 2023 but Andrea Pirlo is considering letting him leave during the summer.

The 30-year-old has played in a number of positions during his time with Juventus, showcasing his versatile nature.

He has largely featured as a No.10 but has also been utilised on the flanks and as a conventional central midfielder.

Having seen him leave for free if would probably hurt Arsenal supporters to see him back in the Premier League wearing a different jersey.

He made 371 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 65 goals and registering 65 assists during his time at the Emirates Stadium.

Ramsey has never really taken off at Juventus and has found himself struggling with fitness issues and consistency.

Both Liverpool and West Ham will want new recruits in the summer and for very different reasons.

The reigning champions have relinquished their crown with a whimper and they’ll want to make sure they get back on track next season.

For the Hammers, the key next season will be continuing their momentum. David Moyes has thrown West Ham into European competition this season and they’ll want that to become a habit, as opposed to a flash in the pan.

Signing the 61-cap star won’t come cheap. Although Juventus might not request a fortune in the way of a transfer fee, he does earn £225,000-a-week at the club.

For that sort of outlay, clubs will want a player who they can rely on and that isn’t always the case with Ramsey.

As good as he is when he’s at his very best, it’s all too infrequent and injuries have probably robbed him of playing more games during his career.

Both of the interested parties will want players to come in and make an immediate impact and there’s no saying Ramsey will do that.

Clubs should think carefully before pursuing the signing of Ramsey this summer.
