Liverpool and Newcastle United are both monitoring young Sheffield United striker William Osula, according to a report from the Sheffield Star.

Osula is yet another bright prospect coming through at Bramall Lane. The 18-year-old made five appearances in the Championship for the Blades.

Paul Heckingbottom is weighing up whether to keep Osula in his ranks for the coming campaign. He may be loaned out, with Burton Albion a potential option after they signed Daniel Jebbison last year.

But they could also receive offers from the Premier League. The Sheffield Star reports that both Liverpool and Newcastle have Osula have their radar. They are both monitoring the teenager and have been keeping their eye on his progress this summer.

Osula is certainly not going to come cheap. He may find himself right in the first-team fold if he is not loaned out over the coming weeks.

The Reds have done some superb business when signing some of the brightest talents from the Championship in recent years. Harvey Elliott has already shone for the Reds, while Fabio Carvalho could well follow suit following his move from Fulham.

Newcastle meanwhile, have signed a number of younger players this summer. And with Eddie Howe at the helm, you would imagine that the Magpies will want to keep an open pathway between the academy and the first-team.

It would be a coup for Newcastle to bring him to Tyneside this summer. But Sheffield United will surely fancy their chances of keeping him beyond this window at least.

Clearly, he is more likely to play first-team football if he stays with the Blades.
