Everton and Liverpool could be set for a transfer tussle to land in-demand Albanian starlet, Marash Kumbulla.

The 20-year-old is thought to be wanted by a number of clubs across the continent. Everton, along with Chelsea and Liverpool, are credited with an interest in the youngster.

And according to Italian publication Corrie di Verona (via Sky Sports), the Merseyside pair could face a whopping £25m asking price if they do want to land the 20-year-old.

Kumbulla has burst onto the scene this season with a number of fine displays for Hellas Verona. The youngster has played an impressive 18 times in Serie A and only missed games thanks to injury and suspension.

Like most defenders who come through in Italy, Kumbulla will be a wanted man. Indeed, it was previously claimed that Man City were also interested in landing the defender.

Kumbulla has already made his debut for Albania after choosing to represent his parents’ origins. He could have played for Italy but has instead opted for the European minnows.

Highly-rated

Not many players will attract the attention of such big clubs at such a young age. This tells you all you need to know about Kumbulla, then.

His performances have been excellent over in Italy, too. He’s helped Verona to keep seven clean sheets this season and helped this team to eighth. Indeed, no team outside of the top three has conceded less than Verona (26).

That alone makes Kumbulla stand out. Liverpool and Everton, then, will have to fight it out if they want to land the youngster.

There’s no point trying to haggle the price down here. If both clubs want him then they should front the money up.

Kumbulla is a class act already. There’s little doubting he can step into the Premier League with ease.

Everton need someone in defence as it is. Liverpool, meanwhile, could be looking for long-term replacements for Dejan Lovren and may see Kumbulla progressing even further under Virgil van Dijk.
