According to a report from ESPN, Liverpool and Chelsea are still ‘pushing’ to try and sign Bayern Munich defender, David Alaba.
It comes in the midst of Alaba admitting he will leave Bayern this week, although he has yet to make a decision on his future.
ESPN claims that Alaba does have an agreement in place with Real Madrid. However, Liverpool are remaining in the hunt for the Austrian, regardless of how close Madrid feel they are to landing the defender.

Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a move for Alaba for some time now. The Reds’ defensive crisis only accelerated those rumours over the last few months, especially given Alaba is available for nothing.
It is believed Alaba is wanting around £12m-a-season in wages. Of course, that puts him into the hundreds of thousands of pounds a week bracket, something Liverpool would need to consider.
But for now, it seems the Reds haven’t quite given up hope of beating Madrid to the punch when it comes to David Alaba.
TBR View: Unlikely, but Liverpool are right to keep pushing for Alaba, he is world-class
If Madrid are in for a player, then there’s no reason why Liverpool shouldn’t be either. It was only two seasons back that the Reds won the Champions League, and they are the current PL champions too.

Alaba is a player of considerable quality and class. He is right out of the top drawer and would instantly improve any team in the world, never mind just Liverpool.
If Klopp did pull this off out of nowhere, then it would be quite the coup for the German, given Alaba has previously been described as one of the ‘best in the world’ in his position.
