Report: Liverpool among Premier League clubs interested in Lautaro Martinez
Liverpool are reportedly among the Premier League clubs interested in signing Lautaro Martinez from Italian giants Inter Milan.
According to 90min, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have contacted Serie A champions Inter to ask them to be informed on any developments regarding the 23-year-old’s future.
It is understood that Inter would love to keep the Argentine forward, but there may need to be one major sale at the end of the season due to financial issues.
The report explains that Martinez could be available for less than £70million, which may be great value in the current market.
Martinez, who is a skilful centre-forward, has worked superbly alongside Romelu Lukaku in the Inter XI this season.
The South American has scored 18 goals and set up nine assists across all competitions so far this campaign.
If Liverpool are to get back towards challenging again at the top of the league like they have in recent seasons, they need to have a successful summer transfer window.
They clearly already have the nucleus of a title-winning team, especially when the defensive injuries clear up, but an injection of some young blood in a couple of areas should really help.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are crying out for another option at striker next, so perhaps they should ramp up interested in Martinez.
He’s proven himself as a top talent in Italian football with great movement, finishing and energy.
