Celtic and Rangers target, Caleb Ekuban, is wanted by Brighton and Hove Albion according to a report from Turkish outlet Takvim.
It is claimed that Ekuban could be available for around £9m and that the Seagulls have already begun talks aimed at landing the former Leeds United man.
The 26-year-old has hit a bit of form for Trabzonspor this season with eight goals in all competitions. That form is in stark contrast to his time at Elland Road, where he notched just once in the Championship.
Brighton’s interest comes amid talk of both Rangers and Celtic being interested in the forward. The Glasgow giants are both said to be keen on making a move in the summer.
Ekuban left Leeds for just over £1m last summer (transfermarkt). His current value of around £9m could well be a sting for the Whites, who will be disappointed they didn’t see the best of the striker.
Brighton, meanwhile, are looking to add goals after struggling in the Premier League this season. The Seagulls have scored just 32 times, less than Aston Villa who sit second from bottom.
Finding his feet away from Leeds United – TBR View
As we see with a lot of players, sometimes it takes a move for a player to hit their stride.
Ekuban showed glimpses during his time at Elland Road but just couldn’t get going. Much like current Trabzonspor teammate Alexander Sorloth, he seems to have found his feet in Turkey.
Celtic and Rangers will both fancy their chances of landing Ekuban. However, Brighton entering the race is an interesting one, given the PL money they have at their disposal.
