The Glasgow Evening Times have claimed that Celtic are ready to release midfielder Liam Burt this summer just one season after the youngster swapped Rangers for Parkhead.
Burt, 21, joined Rangers as a 15-year-old in 2014 after initially being a part of the Celtic youth academy. He made three senior appearances for the Gers, twice in the Scottish Championship and then once in the top tier.
However, last summer he rejoined Celtic – supposedly signing a two-year contract. But recent claims have suggested that he is set to leave the Scottish champions a year early, with his contract expiring this summer.
Rumours circled on Twitter over the weekend that Burt was to be released by Celtic, before the midfielder retaliated by posting a picture from Lennoxtown on his Instagram story. But now, the Evening Times claim he will leave.

TBR’s view – Where can Burt expect to end up now?
In the past, Burt has gone on loan twice to Scottish Championship sides Dumbarton and Alloa and impressed in the second tier of Scottish football. The chances are that the midfielder will have to drop down again.
The chances of Burt playing Premiership football is unlikely right now, but a move to a Championship side could see the Scotland youth international impress in the second tier – and then get picked up by a top-tier club.
