Lewis O’Brien wants to join Leeds United this summer as the Whites continue to discuss a fee with Huddersfield Town for the midfielder, according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (8/8; page 67).
O’Brien has emerged as the Whites’ top target after Marcelo Bielsa’s men missed out on Conor Gallagher.

The Sun on Sunday notes that Gallagher was eyeing an important role from the moment he arrived at his next club. And it would appear that Crystal Palace were able to offer greater assurances on that front.
Fortunately for Leeds, their other target is seemingly prepared for the fight of forcing his way into Bielsa’s plans.
According to The Sun on Sunday (8/8; page 67), O’Brien wants to move to Elland Road. And he is ready to try and prove himself to Bielsa to secure a spot in the team.

The main stumbling block preventing a deal getting done is the fee. The report notes that the Terriers want £10 million for the 22-year-old.
Leeds meanwhile, were hoping to pay in instalments. But talks continue.
Lewis O’Brien move would hand Leeds a timely boost after mixed pre-season
Leeds certainly appear to need more depth in the middle of the park. O’Brien is the kind of busy, clever player who would seemingly really suit Bielsa’s system.
It has been a mixed pre-season for the Whites. They were much better on Saturday as they drew with Villarreal.
But there are issues that need addressing. And signing a new midfielder seems to be a must.
With Leeds making him a top target, and O’Brien keen on a move, surely there is a good chance that this deal gets across the line.
